Art of Adjustment

Learn to see the student before you touch the pose. A complete teaching-methodology course built through the logic of an Ashtanga practice: observation, biomechanics, hands-on assistance, modifications, safety and the decision of when not to adjust.

Module 00 + AA-01–AA-45OnlineSelf-paced

Adjustment is not forcing a pose. It is changing the conditions so the student can understand the movement.

Education, not information

Professional capacity is the outcome.

We do not treat online education as the transfer of more techniques. We create conditions in which professional capacity can develop: the ability to observe, understand, adapt and decide.

01

Observe

See the person in front of you: current state, limiting factor, readiness, pain signals and what is actually happening in the movement.

02

Understand

Relate what you see to biomechanics, load, intention, contraindications and the purpose of the task rather than only its external shape.

03

Adapt

Change range, support, leverage, contact, direction or the task itself while preserving the educational purpose of the practice.

04

Decide

Know when to adjust, when to reduce load, when to change the task, when to stop and when the best intervention is no intervention.

Adjustment is not a collection of techniques. It is the ability to see, understand and make an appropriate decision for the person in front of you.

Audience

Who this is for

Designed for people who already take practice and teaching seriously. It is not a catalogue of impressive grips.

Teacher training lecture at Prana Integrity in Phuket
  • Yoga teachersBuild a repeatable way to observe, choose an intervention and reassess instead of collecting disconnected adjustments.
  • Teacher traineesConnect anatomy, sequencing, safety and hands-on work to real teaching decisions.
  • Experienced practitionersUnderstand why a form changes from person to person and how support, props and reduced range can preserve the training goal.
Methodology

What you learn

  • Read the body before adjustingIdentify the limiting factor before deciding whether the student needs direction, support, load reduction or no physical intervention.
  • Read functional alignmentAssess direction, support and load distribution rather than only the external shape of the asana.
  • Adjust without forcingUse contact, props, resistance, traction and positioning to change conditions rather than push a student into an image.
  • Scale the same taskWork with beginner and experienced pathways while preserving the purpose of the practice.
  • Use your own body safely as an adjustment toolUse stance, leverage, body weight and a stable base so the adjustment facilitates movement without creating unnecessary load for the teacher.
  • Know when to stopPain, contraindications, joint vulnerability and insufficient readiness can change the form, the depth or the decision to adjust at all.

A complete practice becomes a teaching laboratory.

The course follows the real sequence rather than grouping random techniques. That matters: the student’s state changes through the practice, and the teacher’s intervention should change with it.

“The sequence is not the student. The student comes first.”

One sequence. Different entry points.

Beginners complete the main work through Navasana and enter the finishing phase through accessible backbending options. Experienced practitioners continue through the later Primary Series to Setu Bandhasana before entering the same finishing phase. The sequence is not the student. The student comes first.

FAQ

Art of Adjustment

Is this a beginner yoga course?

No. The course can show beginner modifications, but its subject is teaching methodology and adjustment. It is primarily for teachers, trainees and serious practitioners.

Do I need to be able to perform every advanced asana?

No. One of the central ideas of the course is that teaching decisions depend on readiness. The curriculum explicitly includes modifications, branching and cases where an adjustment should not be used.

Does the course teach only Ashtanga?

The practice sequence provides the laboratory, but the transferable subject is broader: observation, biomechanics, load, direction, support, safety and decision-making.

Will I receive a teaching certificate?

The course includes a final online assessment. A score of 50/100 or higher completes the assessment and makes the PDF completion certificate available automatically in the student Dashboard.

What is the price?

US$99 as a one-time payment.
